11/16/2005 - added links to Tom's replies in MSDN forums and current release schedule Exclusively on The ZBuffer. We look inside the new .Net 2.0 APIs and see what the future holds. Tom has specifically asked for feedback on the design changes. Please let him know your ideas, feelings and bugs. Either use directx@microsoft.com or contact him via his blog. The December SDK will contain a new BETA release of Managed DirectX for .Net 2.0 and the final release will be in a future SDK (which means at the earliest February). So we will get one more cycle to try it out and provide feedback. This doesn't mean you should wait if you have an opinion on something big - the later the feedback happens the less likely it can be reacted to. Tom has also informed me that about 40% of D3DX is unintentionally missing from the beta. So don't assume any classes that are gone are gone for good.
There have been some questions on the new functionality in the MSDN forums which have replies from Tom: The winner of the best WinDiff program is Beyond Compare (thanks Leaf) for it's 'Align Manually' and 'Isolate' features that I could not find in any other Diff program (WinDiff, Araxis Merge, WinMerge, KDiff, ExamDiff Pro). Thanks to all who emailed me. The problem was that there are so many changes that the diff program matches the 2 files incorrectly and needs some human assistance. Only Beyond Compare has this facility and will therefore get my $30. To the others: thanks for the chance to evaluate. Updated 11/17/2005 8:00:00 AM by Zman
